WARREN WEIDNER, Executive Producer/Director/Writer As co-founder and executive producer of Grinning Dog Pictures, Inc. Warren is an award winning producer, director and writer of documentaries, magazine feature stories, entertainment programs and TV series for CBS, FOX, The Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel, Lifetime Television, Group W, Hearst Entertainment, The New York Times and others. Warren received 19 Emmy nominations in a nine-year period, and won a total of 11 Emmys, including 2 individual achievement Emmy awards for writing and 5 for producing. Two of his hour-long specials won Emmys in the category of Science Programming. In addition to Grinning Dog Pictures, Warren is president and executive producer of Weidner Productions, Inc., an independent production company that has provided numerous segments for FOX Television's America's Most Wanted and several CBS News magazine shows, including 48 Hours, Face to Face with Connie Chung and Saturday Night with Connie Chung. His profile of comedienne Gilda Radnor, which told the story of her courageous fight against ovarian cancer, was the lead segment of Connie Chung's first primetime CBS special. The program was that month's highest rated hour, and it led CBS to the top of the ratings for the first time in three years. For the Discovery Networks, Weidner Productions created and produced a series of thirty-three half-hour episodes of Teacher TV, applying the standards of network magazine programs to the coverage of classroom issues around the country. The series won four major national and international awards for television, several education awards and a CableACE nomination. Warren also served as producer and executive producer for PaleoWorld, the award-winning Discovery Global world premiere science series. He has a technical background in electrical engineering, and began his career as a cinematographer/director for PBS nationally and globally televised dramas and documentaries |
